How The Jobs Stack Up

Its been almost a year since Will and Nick began their own search for the first PT jobs of their career. A lot has been reflected on and recounted in this episode, but the most important thing to remember is the process is individualized. The only person that MUST reflect on the decisions you make is you! Let the excitement and nerves ramp up during this time, and if theres any advice we share in this episode that helps guide the job-hunt process we are always happy to share more.

What exactly did we ask in this episode? Check out the rough template each portion consisted of:

-What was your path into the healthcare world? What long term goals do you have for your career/professional life

-Can you explain your first role as a PT after graduation. How did you find or create it?

-How did financial obligations play a role in the ultimate decision to start on this avenue?

-Do you mind sharing how much you make or made initially out of school? How did your original income free or limit your capacity to work toward long term goals?

-Biggest pro or benefit to your first gig

-Biggest tradeoff as it pertains to your long term goals?

-What advice can you share with someone just like you (similar interests, goals) that may be considering a role similar to the first one you chose?

This episode is extra special for 1 major reason. In addition to Will and Nick breaking down their memories of landing the “right” fit to begin a career, we also brought on THREE great friends to also share their perspectives on the initial job hunt. Each unique segment features different folks with different goals, just to make sure we covered all the bases:

  • Home health
  • Outpatient ortho in a private, physician owned and a hospital setting
  • Multiple per diem jobs
  • Cash based fitness services

Pretty different jobs to consider right out of school right? Thats why this episode is extra long, but if your interested in zipping right to a particular spot of the episode, check out these times:

0-20 minutes: Nick and Will covering HH and OP ortho

20-43 minutes: Fallon Heddings covering hospital outpatient care and side hustling

43-1:10: Raj Padalia chats how he landed FIVE per diem gigs

1:11 to the end: Ryan Smith chats cash based practice and the fitness realm
